MOSCOW. June 19 (Interfax) - The development of the state-of-the-art S-350 Vityaz air defense system is complete, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said at a meeting with senior defense officials on Wednesday, which focused on the implementation of government defense contracts.
"This year, the development of the S-350 with heightened firing power has been completed," Shoigu said.
The new air defense system is to replace the S-300V. The S-350 can destroy all existing and advanced aerial weapons, including stealth targets and cruise missiles.
The system will have its first public presentation at the Army 2019 international military-technical forum at Park Patriot near Moscow.
