Nazarbayev: Kazakh authorities take all necessary measures to restore Arys promptly

NUR-SULTAN. June 26 (Interfax) - First Kazakh President and Chairman of the Security Council Nursultan Nazarbayev said at a meeting of the council on Wednesday that the state is doing its utmost to promptly restore the livelihood of the town of Arys, Turkistan region, where ammunition had detonated at military depots on Monday.

"Nursultan Nazarbayev pointed out that the state is taking all necessary measures to restore as soon as possible the normal life of the region and provide comprehensive assistance to the population," the first president's press service said on Wednesday.

The current situation in Arys was considered at the meeting among other things.

Having offered his condolences to the families and loved ones of the deceased in Arys, Nazarbayev noted the dedicated work of employees of all services and volunteers taking part in the recovery of the consequences of the explosions.

"According to latest information, the number of injured persons has exceeded 160. It is worth noting that all Kazakhstanis are united. Citizens from all parts of the country are expressing concerns, employees of organizations and enterprises have united to help those injured. Misfortunes and troubles of one region are our shared issue. We will overcome all difficulties owing to strong unity of the people. I would like to thank all Kazakhstanis," the press service cited Nazarbayev as saying.

Following the meeting of the Security Council, orders were given to organize the return of people to their houses and conduct repairs in Arys, the press service said.
