Robot FEDOR's ISS assignment reduced

STAR CITY. June 28 (Interfax) - The tasks to be accomplished by the humanoid robot FEDOR at the International Space Station (ISS) remain secret for the time being, cosmonaut Alexander Skvortsov said.

"He's serviceable but we want the whole thing to be a surprise. His assignment has been reduced due to the time limit. I'd rather not say what I'll be doing alone and what we'll be doing together. It's interesting, you'll see everything for yourself," Skvortsov said at a press conference on Friday.

Skvortsov said earlier that FEDOR would be assisting his crew. The robot is set to travel to the ISS on board the Soyuz MS-14 manned spacecraft in August.

The next expedition will depart for the ISS from Baikonur at 7:28 p.m. Moscow time on July 20. The crew will include Alexander Skvortsov of Roscosmos, Luca Parmitano of the ESA, and Andrew Morgan of NASA.
