Iran exceeded JCPOA limits for low-enriched uranium as result of U.S. sanctions for removing surplus - Russian rep in Vienna

MOSCOW. July 1 (Interfax) - Iran exceeded the limits set by the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) for stockpiles of low-enriched uranium as a result of the restrictions imposed by the United States on the removal of its surplus from Iran, Russia's permanent representative to the International Atomic Energy Agency and other Vienna-based international organizations, Mikhail Ulyanov, said.

"Iran's stocks of law-enriched uranium topped 300 kilograms," Ulyanov wrote on Twitter on Monday.

"This is a deviation from the voluntary obligation under the JCPOA but has nothing in common with violation of the Treaty on the Non-proliferation of Nuclear Weapons or the production of nuclear weapons.

"Ironically, this is the result of the U.S. decision to impose sanctions for the removal of excessive uranium from Iran," Ulyanov said.
