MOSCOW. July 2 (Interfax) - Russia urges Iran to comply with the key provisions of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) guarantee agreement, to control its emotions, and to show self-restraint, Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said at a press conference on Tuesday.
"We urge our Iranian colleagues to show self-restraint, on no account to let their emotions get the better of them, and to comply with the key provisions of the IAEA guarantee agreement and its additional protocol," Lavrov said.
"We also urge our European colleagues to keep their promise and to make sure that their mechanism [the Instrument in Support of Trade Exchanges (INSTEX) created by Germany, France, and the UK to circumvent U.S. sanctions in trade with Iran] becomes truly effective and ensures the rights Iran has in trade and economic cooperation as prescribed by the UN Security Council resolution," Lavrov said.
"It will be very difficult to maintain a meaningful and productive dialogue on preserving the JCPOA without that," he said.
"We will do everything we can to keep this major agreement alive," Lavrov said.
