MOSCOW. July 10 (Interfax) - The next international meeting on Syria in the Astana Format will take place in early August, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov said on Wednesday.
"The 12th international meeting on Syria in the Astana Format will take place at the very beginning of August. Now it will be Nur-Sultan to host the meeting," Bogdanov told reporters in Moscow.
"For the first time, representatives from Lebanon and Iraq will attend as observers. The same status as the Jordanian delegation," he said.
This is very important because the three countries are Syria's neighbors, he said. "It is a very important moment in expanding the Astana format by getting neighboring countries involved," Bogdanov said.
