MOSCOW. July 17 (Interfax) - Russia has started the serial production of Sukhoi Su-57 fifth-generation aircraft and the first deliveries to the Russian Armed Forces will begin this year, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Yury Borisov told Interfax in an interview.
"The first serial deliveries of the jet fighters will be with the engine of the first stage. They will further be replaced with the engine of the second stage," Borisov said.
Work on the second-stage engine keeps up with the schedule, he said.
"Clearly, the Armed Forces need Su-57 with engines of the same type. Currently, the second-stage engine is undergoing plant trials and will further will installed aboard the aircraft for state trials," he said.
Asked about the jet fighter's armament, he said, "Everything is fine with the inboard armament of Su-57."
