MOSCOW. July 22 (Interfax) - All chemical weapons in Syria have been destroyed, Syrian Ambassador in Moscow Riad Haddad said in an interview with Interfax.
"All facilities have been fully destroyed, this has been documented by the United Nations, and Syria joined the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW)," Haddad said when asked whether facilities where not all chemical weapons have yet been destroyed remain in Syria.
Syria officially joined the OPCW in October 2013 and began destroying its chemical weapons stockpiles. On January 4, 2016, the OPCW confirmed completion of the destruction of chemical weapons announced by the Syrian government.
Western countries still claim that Syria did not fully disclose its records on chemical weapons and continues using toxic substances. The Syrian government categorically denies these accusations.
