KYIV. July 25 (Interfax) - - United States Department of State Special Representative for Ukraine Negotiations Kurt Volker and leader of the Ukrainian party Batkivshchyna Yulia Tymoshenko have discussed the preliminary results of the early parliamentary elections and opportunities for reforms in Ukraine at a meeting in Kyiv.
Tymoshenko and Volker also discussed efforts against corruption and bilateral cooperation between the U.S. and Ukraine, a statement posted on the Batkivshchyna website says.
The two additionally discussed "Russia's military aggression in the east of Ukraine and possible ways to end the war and establish peace in Donbas."
Tymoshenko highlighted the importance of continuing the policy of sanctions on Russia. She also thanked the U.S. for helping Ukraine and urged the democratic world to step up efforts toward settling the conflict in Donbas as soon as possible.
"I thank you for all your efforts toward establishing peace in our country. We value this very highly. Only together can we overcome the Russian aggression," she said.
"Volker, in turn, reiterated support for Ukraine's sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity, stressing that the U.S. would continue to make efforts to bring peace to the east of the country," Batkivshchyna said.
Tymoshenko informed Volker of her party's plan of reforms in Ukraine dubbed "eight bills in 100 hours."
