All participants in Syria talks arrive in Kazakh capital

NUR-SULTAN. Aug 1 (Interfax) - All delegations taking part in the "Astana format" talks on Syria have arrived in Kazakhstan's capital for the next round of these talks, the Kazakh Foreign Ministry's press service said.

"All participants have arrived," the press service said.

They are expected to hold bilateral and trilateral consultations on Thursday.

The meeting's plenary session will be held on Friday, during which the Syria truce guarantor countries - Russia, Turkey and Iran - will adopt a joint statement.

According to earlier reports, presidential special envoy for Syria Alexander Lavrentyev is leading Russia's delegation to the meeting, Deputy Foreign Minister Sedat Onal is heading Turkey's delegation, and the Iranian foreign minister's senior aide for special political affairs Ali Asghar Khaji is heading Iran's delegation.

Brigadier General Ahmad Toma is the head of the Syrian armed opposition's delegation to the talks. The delegation of the Syrian government is led by Syria's Permanent Representative to the United Nations Bashar Jaafari.
