U.S. exit from INF treaty serious mistake - Russian Foreign Ministry

MOSCOW. Aug 2 (Interfax) - The United States' decision to quit the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces (INF) Treaty was a serious mistake, the Russian Foreign Ministry said.

"On August 2, the procedure of the U.S. withdrawal from the INF Treaty concluded, as a result of which this treaty has ceased to be effective. Washington has made a very serious mistake," the ministry stated on its website.

"Having launched a propagandist campaign based on deliberate disinformation about Russia's supposed violations of the INF Treaty, the U.S. has deliberately created a practically insuperable crisis around the Treaty. The reason is clear: the U.S. decided to get rid of the limitations it imposed."
