BISHKEK. Aug 7 (Interfax) - Kyrgyz President Sooronbai Jeenbekov has cut short his vacation and is now on his way to Bishkek from Issyk-Kul, the presidential press service told Interfax on Wednesday.
The press service did not name any particular reason for such an urgent return by the president from vacation on Wednesday evening, when the special force of the Kyrgyz National Security State Committee (GKNB) started an operation in a village near Bishkek in an attempt to detain former president Almazbek Atambayev.
Jeenbekov took a vacation on August 5. The head of state was spending the vacation near Lake Issyk-Kul, the presidential press service said.
