Putin to visit France on Aug 19 (Part 2)

MOSCOW. Aug 13 (Interfax) - Russian President Vladimir Putin will pay a one-day visit to France on August 19 to discuss bilateral relations and key international problems, including Ukraine, with French President Emmanuel Macron, Russian presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov said.

"I can confirm that the president will pay a working visit to France on August 19. The topics on its agenda are obvious - of course, it's bilateral Russian-French cooperation, which has quite an intense economic dimension, and international problems," Peskov said.

"And of course it's Ukraine and prospects for further work in the Normandy format," he said.

"Putin and Macron traditionally take advantage of their meetings to exchange opinions in detail and 'compare notes' on international issues," he said.

The reporters also asked Peskov to reveal whether the remains of French General Charles Etienne Gudin found near the Russian city of Smolensk would be repatriated to France.

"It's the latest success of archeologists. We know that it's a highly important mission, an important archeological find. Of course, if our French colleagues deem it necessary to raise this issue, I am confident that this issue will also be discussed," Peskov said.

"The nature of communication between Putin and Macron has its specifics: their dialogue is very frank and can cover any issues, any topics if necessary," he said.
