Ukrainian court postpones hearing of appeal against Vyshynsky's arrest to Aug 20

KYIV. Aug 14 (Interfax) - The Kyiv Court of Appeals has delayed the consideration of an appeal against the extension of arrest of RIA Novosti Ukraine Editor-in-Chief Kirill Vyshynsky to August 20.

In "the prosecution service of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea" established by Kyiv, the court has made the relevant decision on the appeal filed by Vyshynsky's lawyers at its session on Tuesday.

Kyiv's Podilskiy District Court in July extended the arrest of Vyshynsky, who is charged with high treason by Ukrainian law enforcement agencies, until September 19.

As reported, officers of the Ukrainian Security Service detained Vyshynsky in Kyiv on May 15, 2018. They jointly with the Crimean prosecution service have conducted searches at the RIA Novosti Ukraine office in Kyiv. Vyshynsky was charged with high treason under the relevant article of the Ukrainian Criminal Code as part of the criminal case.

On May 16, Vyshynsky was moved to Kherson, where the court arrested him on May 17. The Kherson City Court has already extended the arrest of Vyshynsky several times, while the court of appeals has upheld these rulings.
