WWII bomb found, neutralized in Kremlin - commandant

MOSCOW. Aug 15 (Interfax) - A WWII bomb was found in the Moscow Kremlin during construction works on Thursday; it was rapidly naturalized and taken away, Kremlin Commandant Sergei Khlebnikov said, adding there was no threat at the moment.

"An air-launched bomb, most probably dating back to the Great Patriotic War, was found in the course of earthmoving works. Everyone knows that the Kremlin was bombed in 1941-1942," Khlebnikov told the press on the Kremlin's Cathedral Square on Thursday.

The bomb did not explode but stayed covered by a thick layer of soil, Khlebnikov said, adding that specialists took relevant security precautions.

"All is quiet. The object has been taken away, evacuated from the Moscow Kremlin's territory, and will be liquidated," he said.
