Russian, Tunisian reps discuss Libyan crisis, bilateral cooperation

MOSCOW. Aug 15 (Interfax) - Russian Deputy Foreign Minister and Special Presidential Envoy for the Middle East and Africa Mikhail Bogdanov has held a meeting with Director General of the Tunisian National Security Agency Rached Bettaieb, who is on a working visit in Moscow via the Russian Security Council, the Russian Foreign Ministry said on Thursday.

"They focused on developments in North Africa as they pursue the interest of exchanging opinions on key Middle Eastern and African problems. At the same time, the sides stressed the need for ending the armed conflict in Libya as soon as possible and supporting relevant efforts of UN Secretary-General's Special Representative Ghassan Salame," the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

"The parties also discussed topical issues of further developing the traditionally friendly Russian-Tunisian relations in various areas," the ministry said.

Tunisian Ambassador in Moscow Mohamed Ali Chihi also attended the talks.
