Militants attack populated areas in Syria 35 times - Russian reconciliation center

MOSCOW. Aug 19 (Interfax) - Illegal armed groups have continued breaching ceasefire in the Idlib de-escalation zone, head of the reconciliation center of opposing sides in Syria Maj Gen. Alexei Bakin said.

"Thirty-five attacks were registered on August 17. Militants of illegal armed groups opened fire on the populated areas of Nits, Kafr Hamrah, Makanis ed-Duwari , Aleppo, Sheikh Maqsoud, Khalidiya, Sabikiya, al-Buraikat , Khalasa, Binyamin in the Aleppo province; Chekurjak, Ain al-Qantara, Ziara, Kalyat-Marza, al-Areim, Kermel, Khamrat, Jeyed, Saraf, Kuljok, and Sandran, Latakia province, and Salikhiya in the Idlib province," Bakin said.

The reconciliation center has urged the commanders of illegal armed groups to stop military provocations and begin peaceful settlement in areas under their control, Bakin said.
