Russian-Angolan military-technical cooperation committee to meet before end of 2019 - Lavrov

MOSCOW. Aug 26 (Interfax) - The Russian-Angolan committee on military-technical cooperation will meet before the end of 2019, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said at a press conference following negotiations with Angolan Foreign Minister Manuel Domingos Augusto on Monday.

Russia and Angola "are continuing preparations for implementing a number of mutually beneficial projects in the industrial sector, the production of mineral resources, especially diamond production, and also in the energy, fishery, transport, agribusiness, space communication, financial and military-technical cooperation sectors," Lavrov said.

"We have agreed that the next meeting of the military-technical cooperation committee should take place in the second half of this year as the next step on this track," he said.

During the Soviet era, the USSR and Angola actively developed military-technical cooperation, and the Soviet Union was the African country's primary supplier of weapons and military hardware.
