ISTANBUL. Aug 27 (Interfax) - The delivery of component parts of Russia's S-400 air defense missile systems to Turkey began on Tuesday during the second stage of the contract's implementation, the Turkish Defense Ministry said in a statement.
"Starting today, component parts of the second battery of S-400 air and missile defense systems are being supplied to the Murted airbase near Ankara. The delivery will be accomplished within a month," the statement said.
Turkish TV said earlier that the first Russian plane carrying S-400 component parts had landed in Turkey on Tuesday during the second stage of the delivery.
Turkish Defense Minister Hulusi Akar said on Monday that the delivery of component parts of the second S-400 battery would begin on Tuesday, August 27.
