Putin says he discussed with Erdogan cooperation on Su-35, possibly on new Su-57 (Part 2)

ZHUKOVSKY. Aug 27 (Interfax) - Russian President Vladimir Putin said he discussed with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan cooperation on modern Russian fighter aviation.

"In terms of fighter aviation, we discussed cooperation on Su-35 [of the fourth generation] and potential work even on the new Su-57 aircraft. We have a lot of opportunities, we showcased both new weapons systems and new electronic warfare systems," Putin said at a press conference following talks with Erdogan.

"I believe our Turkish partners are interested in many things and not only in terms of purchasing, but also in terms of joint production," he said.

"By the way, we are ready for it and will now actively discuss certain tracks of it with partners," the Russian president said.

Cooperation not only in the military-technical sector, but in civilian as well, was discussed during talks, he said. "We also displayed the new civilian MC-21 aircraft, which, as far I understand, the [Turkish] president liked; our friends really liked the helicopters, including the Mi-28, light helicopters that are used for military purposes, among others," Putin said.

Erdogan is planning to implement a program for the development of ambulance aviation in Turkey, he said. "We have such plans on the agenda as well. So, we discussed not only military cooperation, or cooperation in the military technical sector, but also on the civilian track," the president said.

Cooperation in space was also addressed, Putin said.

"I hardly managed to show all of Russia's achievements in the rocket-and-space and aviation industry in such a short time, but we are proud of our future developments in this sector, our new items of equipment, hardware, not only military, but civilian as well," he said.
