Putin supports Normandy format summit idea, but aides should meet first - Peskov

MOSCOW. Aug 28 (Interfax) - Russian President Vladimir Putin supports the idea of holding a Normandy format summit, yet the meeting must be prepared by presidential aides, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told the press on Wednesday.

"President Putin supports this meeting. But you must agree that someone needs to lay a foundation and do all the homework before chiefs of state can get together and start discussing something," Peskov said.

"So, until the aides meet and do their homework, we'll be waiting for results of their meeting; they'll consider the situation and prepare for its discussion at summit level," he said.
