Russia stands for reduction of military activity on Korean Peninsula - Foreign Ministry

MOSCOW. Aug 29 (Interfax) - Russia stands for the reduction of military activity on the Korean Peninsula, both military exercises carried out by the United States and South Korea, and missile test launches by North Korea, and this stance has been conveyed to Pyongyang, according to Deputy Foreign Minister Igor Morgulov.

"Naturally, we have discussed the entire range of issues related to security on the Korean Peninsula, including ongoing military activity. I mean, in particular, the military exercises which have continued this August, the joint exercises of the United States and the Republic of Korea," Morgulov, who visited Pyongyang on August 15-16, told Interfax.

"Of course, I have discussed missile test launches, which were performed during my visit to Pyongyang, in this context with our North Korean colleagues. Clearly, we stand for the reduction of military activity on the Korean Peninsula. Our stance has been conveyed to the North Korean partners," Morgulov said.
