ZHUKOVSKY. Aug 30 (Interfax) - Glavkosmos, a subsidiary of the Russian State Space Corporation Roscosmos, hopes that a spaceflight by an astronaut from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) will not be a one-off project, Glavkosmos head Dmitry Loskutov told Interfax.
"We expect a follow-up," Loskutov said upon being asked whether there are plans to send other UAE astronauts into space on board Russian spacecraft.
This issue will be dealt with at the level of the national space agencies, he said.
Interfax reported earlier that the first astronaut from the UAE, Hazza Al Mansoori, would travel to the International Space Station (ISS) alongside Russian cosmonaut Oleg Skripochka and NASA astronaut Jessica Meir on September 25 and would return to Earth on October 3.
Al Mansoori is currently finishing his training at the Cosmonaut Training Center in the Moscow region.
Glavkosmos is the operator of Roscosmos' foreign economic activity.
