Moscow, Kyiv holding talks on prisoner exchange, documents yet to be made out - Moskalkova (Part 2)

MOSCOW. Sept 2 (Interfax) - Russia and Ukraine are currently making out documents necessary for an exchange of prisoners between the two countries, Russian Human Rights Commissioner Tatyana Moskalkova said.

"It is very important for people to be able to return home. It's necessary to conduct a number of legal procedures related to the formalization of documents and other issues, but the process has started, and such negotiations are already taking place," Moskalkova said at the Moscow City University, taking questions from students on Monday.

Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky had discussed the prisoners twice during their telephone conversations on July 12 and August 7.

Ukrainian Verkhovna Rada Human Rights Commissioner Liudmyla Denisova and Russian human rights commissioner Tatyana Moskalkova met in mid-July to exchange lists of Russian and Ukrainian prisoners, agreeing to help them.

Denisova's list contained the names of 150 Ukrainian citizens, while there were 34 Russian citizens on Moskalkova's list.
