VLADIVOSTOK Sept 3 (Interfax) - Russia does not expect a breakthrough to be made in the peace treaty issue at the meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe on the sidelines of the Eastern Economic Forum (EEF), according to Deputy Foreign Minister Igor Morgulov.
"The negotiations are in progress. I'd rather not await any breakthrough, considering that this is a lengthy process, which will obviously take a lot of time. For now, significant differences remain, and we are set to continue our painstaking dialogue on outstanding disagreements with Japan," Morgulov told the press on Tuesday.
