VLADIVOSTOK. Sept 4 (Interfax) - India's orders for Russian weapons and military hardware total $14.5 billion, head of the Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation (FSMTC) Dmitry Shugayev said.
"Unlike in any other period, last year and today yielded a huge book of orders, which is worth $14.5 billion. This is a very significant sum and a real breakthrough," Shugayev told the press on Wednesday.
"Military-technical cooperation is a key element of the privileged strategic partnership between Russia and India," he said.
"Despite the colossal pressure experienced by India last year, primarily, from the United States, major contracts were signed for the delivery of S-400 air defense missile systems, frigates of Project 11356, and a large batch of ammunition for the Air Force, the Navy, and the Ground Forces," Shugayev said.
