WWII-related events in Poland turn into bigotry - Russian Foreign Ministry

MOSCOW. Sept 4 (Interfax) - The events held in Poland on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the beginning of WWII are an example of efforts to rewrite history, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova said at a press briefing on Wednesday.

"The events were supposed to address the 80th anniversary of beginning of WWII, a tragic occurrence and a tragic page not only in the history of the 20th century but in the entire history of mankind. What the events turned into [...] is just shocking," Zakharova said.

She described the Warsaw events as a drama play and said, "This is an illustrative example of attempts to rewrite history. This time, it's all gone too far and turned into a real case of global bigotry."

The events took place on September 1. A Russian delegation was not invited to attend.
