Ball in Kyiv's court in regards to prisoner exchange - DPR

DONETSK. Sept 4 (Interfax) - Representatives of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) at meetings of the humanitarian subgroup have taken every necessary step to carry out the exchange of prisoners, DPR special envoy to the Minsk Contact Group Natalya Nikonorova told reporters on Wednesday.

"At today's meeting the humanitarian subgroup continued working on the lists of prisoners, but the Ukrainian side failed to present its reply about the procedural readiness and information required for the exchange of held persons," the DPR special envoy said in comments on the results of the humanitarian subgroup meeting.

DPR representatives fulfilled all the steps needed to undertake the exchange, having completed the legal clearing and having prepared necessary documents, she said.

"Today, the ball is still in Kyiv's court, as we suggested to Ukrainian representatives some options of settling problematic issues of preparations and legal clearing. We hope that the Ukrainian side will not drag out such a vitally important issue such as the return of held persons to their families," the DPR special envoy said.
