VLADIVOSTOK. Sept 5 (Interfax) - Russian President Vladimir Putin has allowed for foreign investment in strategic enterprises of the Russian Far East, such as the Zvezda shipyard, the aircraft plant, and the Vostochny Cosmodrome.
"Of course," Putin said in response to a question of the moderator at the plenary session of the Eastern Economic Forum.
"All of us know, and the whole world knows Sukhoi fighters," Putin said. He added that Russia's Sukhoi Superjet 100 was manufactured jointly with foreign partners.
The Vostochny Cosmodrome is not a only military facility, Putin said. "In fact, the primary purpose of this cosmodrome is civilian launches. So, we not just allow for interaction with foreign partners, we are directly interested in doing that," Putin said.
The shipbuilding industry is also awaiting foreign investments, Putin said. He reminded the audience about the visit he paid to the Zvezda shipyard, which builds modern large-sized ships for shelf and Arctic zone operations, together with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday.
