YEKATERINBURG. Sept 10 (Interfax) - The 14th Air and Air Defense Forces Army of Russia's Central Military District has received four Mil Mi-24P Krokodil attack helicopters, the district's press service said.
"Three helicopters went to the separate helicopter regiment in Siberia. One Krokodil was given to an army aviation brigade in the Sverdlovsk region," the press service said in a statement.
"The helicopters are equipped with modern communication, sighting, and flight instrumentation systems. The helicopters have infrared sighting subsystems of control and tracking," it said.
The Mi-24P is a deeply upgraded version of the Mi-24 helicopter. The helicopter is armed with 23-mm twin-barrel cannons in pods under the wings.
The helicopter carries Shturm-B and Ataka-M guided anti-tank missile systems, as well as unguided missiles. It can carry up to 2.5 tonnes of bombs weighing from 50 to 500 kilograms as an external load.
The Mi-24P is equipped with a radar-detection system, heat flares, and an infrared jamming system. The helicopter's crew comprises three people.
