CHISINAU. Sept 12 (Interfax) - The date of Moldovan Prime Minister Maia Sandu's visit to Russia is being coordinated via diplomatic channels, a spokesman for the Moldovan government told Interfax on Thursday.
He denied that the visit had been scheduled to take place on September 12.
"Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Nicu Popescu visited Moscow yesterday. A visit of Prime Minister Maia Sandu is being prepared, but its date has yet to be set," the spokesman said.
He confirmed that Sandu will visit the United States from September 17-19 and said that the date of the Moscow visit will be announced later.
Popescu and Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov called for boosting bilateral relations at their talks in Moscow. Popescu described his visit to Moscow as "the beginning of joint effort towards normalizing relations between Moldova and Russia."
