U.S. avoiding substantive discussion of New START's future - Ryabkov

MOSCOW. Sept 12 (Interfax) - The United States has indicated its unpreparedness for a substantive discussion of the New START's extension, which worries Moscow, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said at a press briefing on Thursday.

"Washington keeps stalling a decision on its extension and artificially creates uncertainty despite our calls for extending the treaty for five years or less on condition of an acceptable solution to the problem of some U.S. strategic delivery vehicles' remodeling for conventional missions," Ryabkov said.

"They hint at being unprepared for a substantive discussion of these issues, at least for the time being. They seem to be tempted to play with this uncertainty," he said.
