Gen. Bukharev becomes head of SBU anti-corruption unit

KYIV. Sept 12 (Interfax) - Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has relieved Vladyslav Bukharev of his duties as chairman of Ukraine's Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) and has appointed him first deputy head of the Security Service (SBU) and head of the SBU's Main Directorate for Corruption and Organized Crime Counteraction.

These decrees were published on the presidential website on September 11.

Lieut. Gen. of Tax Police Bukharev was first appointed SBU first deputy head and head of its Main Directorate for Corruption and Organized Crime Counteraction in 2014. He was also the SBU's officer at large.

Bukharev was put in charge of the Foreign Intelligence Service on June 11.

Zelensky also appointed SBU Col. Oleksandr Rusnak to the post of director of the SBU counterintelligence department, replacing Oleksiy Petrov, who was relieved of this job in late August.

Among other steps, Zelensky appointed Borys Bezruky as head of the SBU branch in the Zaporizhzhya region, Vitaliy Hersak as head of the SBU branch in the Mykolaiv region, Mykola Naidych as head of the SBU branch in the Kharkiv region, and Vitaliy Monastyretsky as head of the SBU branch in the Chernivtsi region.
