FSB sees increased threat of terrorist attacks using drones

ST. PETERSBURG. Sept 12 (Interfax) - The threat of the use by terrorists of drones is increasing, Sergei Smirnov, first deputy director of the Russian Federal Security Service and Russia's representative in the regional Anti-Terrorist Structure of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (RATS SCO), said.

"The information received by the relevant Russian agencies indicates an increase in threats associated with the use of members of international terrorist organizations of drones. The highest danger is posed by threats of terrorist attacks using homemade explosive devices installed on them or toxic substances dispersed by them," Smirnov told reporters in St. Petersburg on Thursday.

He suggested that the SCO countries should exchange their experience in the prevention of the use of drones by terrorists. "We plan to approve joint measures to counter and neutralize this threat by summing up and analyzing the experience of the relevant bodies of our organization," Smirnov said.
