TBILISI. Sept 13 (Interfax) - Georgia demands that South Ossetia stop building a border post on a hill near the villages of Chorchana and Tsnelis, deputy head of the Georgian State Security Service's Information Analysis Department Irakli Antadze said on Friday.
"Construction [of the border post] must stop immediately. The entire thing must stop, and they must leave the area within a reasonable period of time," Antadze told the press before a technical meeting with South Ossetian representatives within the framework of the Incident Prevention and Response Mechanism (IPRM).
The situation, which has taken shape near the Georgian village of Chorchana and the South Ossetian village of Tsnelis, will be discussed at the meeting.
Georgia has not changed its mind about the police post in Chorchana, which will continue to operate as usual, Antadze said. He called South Ossetia's decision to suspend operation of border checkpoints as destructive.
"This is a humanitarian issue. It is inadmissible to link humanitarian issues to either of our differences," Antadze said.
The Georgian police post in Chorchana caused South Ossetia's protest. Georgia claims the post poses no threat to South Ossetia and operates in the Tbilisi-held area. Meanwhile, South Ossetia opened its own border post on a hill near the two villages, thus causing the discontent of Georgia.
