Poroshenko links his questioning to searches of former NBU governor Gontareva's residence

KYIV. Sept 13 (Interfax) - Petro Poroshenko, the fifth president of Ukraine and now a people's deputy (European Solidarity faction), said he believes his summons to the State Bureau of Investigations (SBI) is linked to the searches of the residence of former governor of the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) Valeriya Gontareva.

"I link today's events to the searches of the residence of former NBU governor Gontareva, the burning of her car, the pressure on her family," Poroshenko told reporters after being questioned in the SBI.

Poroshenko again said he considers the case to be politically motivated. "We are right 100%. Nationalization was an element of protection against robbery [...] But the SBI doesn't want to work on it for some reason," he said.

Poroshenko also said he was "asked questioning about the sailors, the Kerch Strait case" during the investigative actions.

He also said he is outraged by the fact that the court has ordered the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) to register criminal proceedings involving illegal actions by Poroshenko and Ukraine's former foreign minister Pavlo Klimkin in the signing of the Minsk Agreements.
