BLAGOVESHCHENSK. Sept 13 (Interfax) - Servicemen of the Russian Eastern Military District's air defense missile regiment, based in the Khabarovsk Territory, fired S-400 Triumf and S-300 surface-to-air missile systems around ten times during an exercise at the Telemba training range in Russia's internal republic of Buryatia, the military district's press service said on Thursday.
"The live-fire exercises took place in daylight. Crews operating advanced S-400 missile systems and S-300 systems were not informed about the azimuth and the time of launches of high-velocity, small-format targets in advance. The missile targets were destroyed after spending no more than 40 seconds in the missile systems' engagement area," it said.
Before the drills, the crews practiced an operation to search for, identify and classify Su-30SM fighter jets from the Eastern Military District's separate fighter jet force and Su-35S 4++ multirole fighter jets from the Khabarovsk territory posing as high-altitude groups of targets.
The Telemba range is hosting a large-scale exercise of over 4,000 servicemen and some 700 units of military and special-purpose hardware from the Eastern Military District's air defense forces.
