LUHANSK. Sept 13 (Interfax) - Air defense units of the self-proclaimed Luhansk People's Republic (LPR) People's Militia have shot down two unmanned aerial vehicles of the Ukrainian Armed Forces near the line of contact in Donbas over the past week, LPR defense spokesperson Ivan Filiponenko said.
"Ukrainian government forces are continuing to actively use unmanned aerial vehicles at the line of contact, thus violating the Minsk Agreements," Filiponenko told journalists on Friday.
On September 6, LPR forces shot down a Skywalker drone belonging to the Ukrainian Armed Forces, which was on a reconnaissance mission over the community of Teplychne, Filiponenko said. "The data retrieved from the drone contain photos and videos of mortar emplacements ready to fire," he said.
"On September 11, an LPR People's Militia air defense unit detected and shot down a quadcopter-type unmanned aerial vehicle belonging to the enemy while attempting to conduct reconnaissance," he said.
Ukrainian government forces are also obstructing the operations of the drones belonging to the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission in Donbas "to prevent the detection of Ukrainian Armed Forces hardware deployed in violation of the Minsk Agreements," he said.
