Paratroopers to receive almost 40 landing systems for BMD-4M before end of this year

MOSCOW. Sept 17 (Interfax) - The Tekhnodinamika Holding has begun supplying landing systems for BMD-4M combat vehicles to the Airborne Forces, the press service for the state corporation Rostec said.

"The Tekhnodinamika Holding of the Rostec State Corporation has begun supplying to the Russian Defense Ministry platformless parachute systems PBS-950-U for BMD-4M airborne fighting vehicles. The systems have successfully completed all tests and will be used for the first time during the Center 2019 exercise," the press service said on Monday.

The Airborne Forces will receive 36 landing systems before the end of this year, the press service said. The system was designed by the Universal design production complex. It makes it possible to land a BMD-4M with a crew of seven people in any climate conditions from all types of Il-76 planes at a speed of up to 380 km/h and from an altitude of 1,500 meters.

The start of the system supply to the troops was earlier announced by the Russian Defense Ministry; Airborne Forces Commander Andrei Serdyukov said the troops are being actively re-equipped to BMD-4M airborne fighting vehicles and BTR-MDM armored vehicles.

The BMD-4M is capable of shooting at a range of up to seven kilometers and fighting the most modern tanks at a distance of up to five kilometers. It is a maneuverable, high-speed, floating airborne fighting vehicle with a navigation system.
