Russia doing its utmost to preserve Iran deal, in contact with U.S. - Putin

ANKARA. Sept 17 (Interfax) - The Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) on the Iranian nuclear deal remains viable, Russia is doing its utmost to ensure its full implementation by contacting the United States, Russian President Vladimir Putin said following talks with his Turkish and Iranian counterparts.

"We believe that the JCPOA remains viable, despite the U.S. withdrawal from it. Other parties to the nuclear deal agree with us on this matter," the Russian leader said.

"In spite of all known difficulties with its implementation, there is no reasonable alternative to this agreement," he said.

"Russia does its utmost to ensure that the plan of action continues being implemented in full, we're in active contact with its participants, as well as the U.S., in relation to the JCPOA issues," Putin said.
