Russian proposal for Gulf to be discussed at UNGA session - Nebenzya

NEW YORK (UN). Sept 17 (Interfax) - Russian Permanent Representative to the United Nations Vasily Nebenzya has expressed confidence that the Russian proposal regarding collective security in the Gulf area will be discussed at the upcoming session of the UN General Assembly.

"It [the concept] is alive and clearly remains under consideration. Hopefully, it will be discussed by the interested sides. I am sure it will be brought up at the upcoming session of the General Assembly," Nebenzya said at a press conference at the UN headquarters.

Russian Presidential Representative for the Middle East and Africa, Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov presented the Russian concept of collective security in the Gulf area at the Russian Foreign Ministry on July 23.
