MOSCOW. Sept 18 (Interfax) - Stabilization in Syria requires the complete pullout of the U.S. military contingent and the transfer of occupied lands under control of the Syrian lawful government, Russian National Defense Control Center head Col. Gen. Mikhail Mizintsev said.
"We believe that the illegal presence of the United States and its allies in the Syrian territory increases the crime rate and hinders the restoration of peace. The regional situation will stabilize only after the withdrawal of the U.S. contingent is accomplished and the occupied lands are passed under control of the Syrian lawful government," Mizintsev said.
Double standards demonstrated by the United States and its allies in the foreign policy give a reason for the immediate discussion of their illegal operations in the sovereign Syrian territory at the UN Security Council, he said.
"We insistently call on representatives of the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees to put the item on the agenda of the 74th session of the UN General Assembly that opened on September 17," Mizintsev said.
