Man who threatened to blow up Metro Bridge in Kyiv detained (Part 2)

KYIV. Sept 18 (Interfax) - Law enforcement officers have detained the man who threatened to blow up the Metro Bridge in Kyiv, a NewsOne TV presenter said live on air.

Law enforcers detained the man and put him into a police van, the presenter said.

Media said citing sources that the man's name is Oleksiy Belko and he is a native of the village of Foros in Crimea.

Belko, who threatened to blow up a bridge in Kyiv, was detained during a joint operation of the Alfa and Kord teams, a source in law enforcement agencies told Interfax.

Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko told journalists earlier on Wednesday that, according to preliminary information, the man was under influence of drugs or alcohol.

The police provided information that the man shot down a drone, which had recorded his face, Klitschko said.

The online publication Ukrayinska Pravda said that, according to information from the website of the Kyiv City Administration, Belko was a participant in the operation in eastern Ukraine and petitioned to receive a plot of land. He held the rank of first lieutenant and the post of chief of the radio station of the broadcasting center of the field communications hub at the A 3628 military unit in Brovary, Kyiv region.
