IZHEVSK. Sept 19 (Interfax) - Kalashnikov Group has manufactured some 40 new firearms since sanctions were imposed on it, Mikhail Nenyukov, first deputy general director of the enterprise, said.
"We have manufactured some 40 new firearms that Kalashnikov Group had traditionally not manufactured in that time. Now it's a very broad nomenclature line," Nenyukov said at a weapons manufacturers forum on Wednesday.
"The whole market on which we worked is de facto upside down. Speaking about firearms, it was the U.S. market before the sanctions. We made a 180 degree-turn after 2015. Totally new markets, new products," he said.
Kalashnikov is Russia's biggest manufacturer of automatic and sniper weapons, as well as a wide range of high-precision arms. The civilian products segment includes hunting rifles, sports rifles, motorcycles, machines, and tools.
