TIRASPOL. Sept 19 (Interfax) - OSCE Secretary General Thomas Greminger visited the unrecognized Transdniestrian Moldovan Republic on Thursday for a meeting with Transdniestria's President Vadim Krasnoselsky, Prime Minister Alexander Martynov and Foreign Minister Vitaly Ignatyev.
"The OSCE is an important participant in the 5+2 format, and your opinion on these or those issues discussed within this format is extremely important to us," Krasnoselsky said greeting Greminger.
In the 5+2 format, Moldova and Transdniestria are sides in these talks, the OSCE, Russia and Ukraine are mediators, and the European Union and the United States are observers.
Greminger's visit to Transdniestria comes in the run-up to 5+2 format talks scheduled to take place in Bratislava in early October.
Transdniestrian officials described today's relations between Tiraspol and Chisinau with a focus on recent problems. One of them is the closure by Moldovan commercial banks of accounts of several Transdniestrian enterprises specializing in export and import operations.
During the trip, Greminger is being accompanied by Head of the OSCE Mission to Moldova Claus Neukirch and Ambassador Dusan Dacho from Slovakia, which holds the rotating OSCE chairmanship this year.
