MOSCOW. Sept 25 (Interfax) - The Marshal Ustinov missile cruiser has called at the Aksaz base of the Turkish Navy, the press service of Russia's Northern Fleet said.
"The Russian sailors' visit will last for three days. The senior officer of the voyage and the cruiser's commander will have a number of protocol meetings with representatives of the hosting side. Employees of the Russian embassy to Turkey, their family members, and officers of the Turkish Navy will visit the ship," the press service said.
The Marshal Ustinov cruiser accompanied by auxiliary ships entered the Mediterranean Sea on August 22. The ships have visited Algeria and Egypt and held a number of drills. It is expected that the naval unit will visit ports of a number of Mediterranean countries.
The Marshal Ustinov cruiser of Project 1164 is designed to attack offensive groups and large ships, ensure combat sustainability of anti-submarine search and attack groups, and to secure collective air defense of units and convoys in distant parts of the World Ocean.
