MOSCOW. Sept 26 (Interfax) - Auxiliary ships of Russia's Northern Fleet have called at the Greek port of Piraeus, the fleet's press service said on Thursday.
"The Vyazma sea tanker and the SB-406 tugboat supporting the Marshal Ustinov missile cruiser on its distant voyage in the Mediterranean Sea called on the Greek port of Piraeus," the press service said in a statement.
The goal of the visit is to demonstrate the St. Andrew flag, to prop international cooperation and the short-term rest of sailors on the shore, it said.
"It is not expected to replenish stock. Earlier the ships replenished water, fuel and food reserves during calls at ports of Limassol, Cyprus, and Alexandria, Egypt," it said.
The Northern Fleet's auxiliary ships will continue their mission in the eastern part of the Mediterranean Sea after calling at Piraeus, it said.
The Vyazma sea tanker and the SB-406 tugboat together with the Marshal Ustinov missile cruiser entered the Mediterranean Sea through the Strat of Gibraltar on August 22.
The Northern Fleet reported on Tuesday that the Marshal Ustinov called at the Aksaz base of the Turkish Navy.
