Russia's Lavrov discusses Afghanistan with counterparts from UNSC permanent members

MOSCOW. Sept 27 (Interfax) - Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov discussed the situation in Afghanistan while attending a working breakfast of the foreign ministers of the permanent members of the United Nations Security Council, the Russian Foreign Ministry said on its website.

"The participants discussed key issues on the UN Security Council agenda with a focus on the role of the council's permanent members in resolving global crises, the situation on the Korean Peninsula, and also the situations in Afghanistan, Syria, Yemen, and Libya," the ministry said.

Lavrov called on his foreign counterparts to formulate their approaches to countering today's threats on the basis of international law, it said.
