U.S. visa non-issuance to Russian delegates won't go unanswered - Lavrov

NEW YORK, UN. Sept 30 (Interfax) - Moscow will take into consideration in the future the incident surrounding the failure to issue visas to part of the Russian delegation to the United Nations General Assembly and will verify whether the officials dealing with visas have the instructions from the United States Department of State, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on Friday.

"Of course, we can leave this unanswered. And we will certainly take this situation in consideration next time, when international events take place in New York or anywhere else in the U.S. We will verify ten times whether the officials issuing visas have the instructions from the leadership, in this case the Department of State," he said at a press conference in New York.

Lavrov noted that U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo confirmed during a meeting with him in New York that neither he nor U.S President Donald Trump was aware of this incident.
