KYIV. Sept 30 (Interfax) - Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky has signed a document relieving Oleksandr Danyliuk of his duties as Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC), accepting the letter of resignation Danyliuk tendered to the president's office last week.
"To remove Oleksandr Danyliuk from the office of Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine," reads the decree published on the presidential website.
On September 27 it emerged that Danyliuk had written a letter of resignation.
"In regards to information about the resignation of Oleksandr Danyliuk from the post of secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, we can say the following: Oleksandr Danyliuk filed his resignation with the president of Ukraine before the start of Volodymyr Zelensky's working visit to the U.S. to attend the 74th session of the UN General Assembly. The president will consider it upon return to Kyiv," it said.
"I confirm reports about my resignation. I'll continue working pending the president's decision," Danyliuk wrote later on his Facebook page.
Zelensky appointed his advisor Danyliuk as NSDC Secretary in late May of this year.
Danyliuk was appointed by then-President Petro Poroshenko as his representative to the government on July 17, 2014. He became deputy chief of the presidential administration on September 25, 2015.
In April 2016, Danyliuk was appointed Ukraine's finance minister. He was relieved of those duties in June 2018.
